The supporting cast features other recognizable faces from the cartoon show, such as Spike, Tyke, Duckling, Butch, and Nibbles, as well as lesser-known characters, such as Robot Cat, Monster Jerry, Lion, and Eagle. Looking and sounding a lot like the classic cartoons, War of the Whiskers will have you feeling rather nostalgic from the moment you start smacking Tom over the head with a frying pan. The surroundings are fully interactive too, so if you're scrapping it out in the kitchen, you can bash the cooker and set your hapless opponent's behind on fire.

The environments are littered with various props which have been kindly left lying around for you to batter your opponent senseless with, including such goodies as chairs, rolling pins, and crabs - naturally. So all that's left, once you've selected your mode, is to fight like cat and er, mouse in a frenetic free-for-all featuring some of your favourite 'toons. There are four different modes to get your canines into, including the standard Challenge Mode, Tag Mode for double the fun, Versus for one-on-one action against a friend, and Tag Team - which is similar to Tag, but allows two players to battle against the CPU in a co-op mode. The arch-rivals are joined by some familiar faces too, with Spike, Butch and Duckling amongst the nine extra playable characters making an appearance, once you've unlocked them. Playing as either the tenacious feline Tom, or his rodent nemesis Jerry, you'll do battle in a variety of vibrant, cutesy environments based on the famous pair's cartoon outings. No strangers to the world of console gaming, Tom and Jerry bring their own brand of creature-carnage to the PS2 in a beat 'em up that pits the eternal enemies in a showdown of cat-astrophic proportions.
